This was taken shortly after dad and Jenny returned to the UK, they had a break in Whitby just before moving into their new house (business) in Gressenhall.
I think the North Yorkshire coast was one of dad's favourite places, I've seen a number of holiday photos from Bridlington and Scarborough when he was growing up - we also had a few family holidays there in the 1970s.
This was probably taken in the early 2000s at Gressenhall.
The post office was based in an amazing old building that dated back to the 1600s, my lasting memory is of a very low ceiling in the kitchen which was no more than an inch above my head if I was wearing shoes!
They were made very welcome in the village and I know they both looked back on their years there very fondly.
It was at this time that they bought a tandem and took up cycling, I guess Norfolk is probably the best place to get back into cycling in your later years, given that it's so flat.
This was taken at Dadand Jenny's silver wedding anniversary, in the summer of 2009 at Gressenhall.
Friends and family had gathered to celebrate the day with them, I remember it being a very joyful day which this photo captures perfectly.

You'll be pleased to know I couldn't find the photo taken for the (naked) charity calendar of 2004 - inspired by The Calendar Girls film of the previous year.
The nickname "Postman Pete" was given to him by his old friends from Harvesters - Pete Milan and Graham Dixon - who are sadly no longer with us, and I know dad missed them very much.
PS In the 1970s we actually did have a black and white cat! (Freddie.)
