Dad followed in my grandpa's footsteps and joined the St. Anne's Scouts Brigade, rising to the rank of Patrol Leader.
This is when he met my mum, Val James, who was the Girl Guides Leader.
Dad's cousin Steve Hind was also a member and was a very active member of the organisation for most of his life (and he's still going strong I'm pleased to say).

I can't tell what the record is that he is holding, but it might well be the Goons' Ying Tong song, which came out in 1956.
Just like King Charles, Dad was a big fan of the Goon Show and introduced me and my brother to it in the early 1980s.

I know he was in the rowing team at Magnus Grammar (Newark), so it might be a photo from that time.
Dad was there from 1957 until 1962 for his O-Levels and A-Levels.
I'm guessing that this is another school photo, but again no date on it.
This is a nice photo of dad with his mum, Constance Hind, taken in 1948 in Bridlington.
Sadly I have no memories of my grandma as she died very suddenly when I was less than a year old.
This photo is from my mum's collection and shows the St. Anne's scouts group from the 1950s - featuring various members of the Hind family (two generations).

To the left of dad is his cousin Steve, and to the left of grandpa is his brother, great uncle Jack.
I found this amongst dad's qualification certificates, even though he couldn't be actively involved with the Scouts after leaving Worksop it was clearly a very important part of his life.

Tony, like our granddad (his dad) has always been very interested in model railways and built some incredible layouts.
He was also a very keen Meccano constructor and I know dad was always impressed by his projects, as was I.
